The April groundbreaking ceremony at the site of Great Gulf HomesMonde Condominiums marked the official start for the long-awaited waterfront residential development. The 44-storey, 492-foot tall condominium tower, designed by Israeli-Canadian architect Moshe Safdie in partnership with Quadrangle Architects, marks the sixth major commission in Canada for Safdie since his envelope-pushing brutalist landmark Habitat '67 was constructed in Montreal almost a half century ago.

The Postmodern exterior of Monde will be complemented by modern interiors by innovative Toronto-based design firm Cecconi Simone, the same company responsible for the creative interiors currently soon to take shape at another major Great Gulf project, One Bloor East at the corner of Yonge and Bloor. Renderings of the interior of Monde's suites depict a clean, airiness that speaks to the simply stunning lake views beyond the suites' windows.

Kitchens are functional and beautiful with integrated appliances.

Monde's 552 suites come in a full range of sizes, including over five percent which will boast three or more bedrooms, a reason that some families are choosing this tower as a new waterfront home. A daycare centre in the building is an amenity that is sure to be appreciated by families raising young children.

It is among the over 16,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenity spaces that residents of Monde will enjoy, including a gym, theatre, game room, party room, roof deck, sauna, and a swimming pool, all appointed by Cecconi Simone and/or landscaped by Janet Rosenberg + Studio.

The party room space, pictured both above and below, will offer an outdoor dining area, a baby grand piano, and a "living wall" similar to the one found in the building's lobby. Living walls fill their spaces with particularly fresh, clean air, and form beautiful backdrops besides.
