"Around 2008, when we first started working on Regent Park, we were selling the revitalized neighbourhood of that future,"Daniels' Dominic Tompa tells us, describing the neighbourhood's dramatic transformation. "Now, however, we don't sell the neighbourhood of the future, I just tell people to put their coats on and see what's already there. There's vibrancy on the street, and a real sense of community, and One Park Place is at the heart of that," Tompa continues, underlining the significance of the revitalization.

As Toronto's Regent Park community continues to undergo a transformative revitalization, the formerly marginalized neighbourhood is on its way to becoming both an attractive residential area as well as one of the city's nascent cultural hubs. One Park Place, a two-tower condominium complex located at the southeast corner of Dundas and Regent Park Boulevard, is situated at the centre of the new community, counting Daniels Spectrum—home of the recent Regent Park Film Festival, as well as a wealth of year-round cultural programming—and the Regent Park Central Park & Aquatic Centre as its direct neighbours.

Tompa explains that the Hariri Pontarini-designed development is also notable for its "aesthetic excellence, high-end finishes, and extensive amenities," which include a squash court, piano bar, basketball court, and a yoga/pilates studio. "With a recently opened Shoppers Drug Mart (above), the retail at the base of the development has also brought an important amenity to the area," Tompa tells us, also noting the project's Cecconi Simone-appointed interiors and NAK Design Strategies landscaping as focal points.

With One Park Place's recently completed towers now both virtually fully occupied, Regent Park is poised to continue its historic transformation, with projects like the Regent Park Athletic Grounds (above), a new Community Centre, and Daniels'Quadrangle-designed The Bartholomew (below) set to continue the neighbourhood's fast-paced re-development.

"It's become more than just a better place to live," Tompa notes, describing the area as "a place to live, work, and play. With commercial space, restaurants, and cafes, the neighbourhood is no longer just a bedroom community," Tompa continues, "in fact, it's now becoming a draw for people who live outside the area to come visit. And it's only going to get better."
