Construction work at the Roncesvalles site of 383 Sorauren Avenue has reached a milestone, with work now under way on the ground floor of the 10-storey, architectsAlliance-designed condominium development by Gairloch Developments and Centrestone Urban Developments. When we last updated the progress on site, construction was under way on the building's below-grade levels, and has since progressed to the final underground level and the first signs of at-grade construction.

The building will soon begin its ascent into the sky. The cladding will be a combination of red brick and glazing, designed to blend in with the surrounding historic industrial context of Sorauren Avenue, including the adjacent Robert Watson Lofts, a former industrial warehouse that has since been converted into condominiums.

The completed development will feature interiors by Johnson Chou Inc., designed to reflect the industrial aesthetic of the surrounding blocks. These features include nine-foot exposed concrete ceilings, engineered hardwood floors, solid core veneer slab kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, stainless steel backsplashes, and much more.

Residents of 383 Sorauren will have plenty of options for transportation, including the 504 King, 505 Dundas and 506 Carlton streetcar routes, the nearby Dundas West subway station and adjacent to it Bloor GO station, now also a stop for the recently-opened Union Pearson Express (UPX). Seen passing the development site on its route between Pearson International Airport and Union Station in the photo below, the UPX gives residents of 383 Sorauren fast access to the GTA's two most important transportation hubs.
