Strong residential demand continues to support the construction of new condominium developments in the Hamilton-Burlington area, many of which are shedding the established suburban built form and design languages and adopting a decidedly urban character. One such project—LJM Developments' Appleby Gardens Condominiums—is fusing the aesthetic principles of the urban mid-rise with the car-centric lifestyle enjoyed by the local population. Located on Appleby Line between Upper Middle Road and the QEW, the project joins a fast-intensifying part of Burlington.

In the little over three months since cladding installation began for the 7-storey, Icon Architects-designed condominium development, the building's dark-tinted window wall glazing framed by black mullions have been fully installed.

The next step forward for the development's exterior will be the addition of an orange two-toned aluminum cladding system, which will be installed on areas currently covered by a blue weatherproofing membrane. This exterior finish will add some visual flair to the development, while acting as a visual bridge between the new structure and the surrounding brick and masonry subdivision housing.

The development will be served by a parking garage situated largely below grade, with open-air sheltered parking also offered on the east side of the ground floor, hidden behind the building's Appleby Line frontage. The completed development will include 71 units in one bedroom, one bedroom plus den, and two bedroom configurations, with prices between $245,990 and $432,490.
